“My flesh and my heart may fail,, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Ps. 73, v. 6*).
My son, David, is learning to walk. Once, while he was standing, holding onto a chair, his mother passed by him on her way to the balcony. David let go of the chair to follow her. He took two steps, but fell on the third. For a while, he waited for someone to come to help him. When no one came, he stood up and took a few more steps before falling again and crying. This time his mother rushed to him to pick him up.
This made me think: if babies didn’t try again after falling, no one would ever learn to walk. The parable of the persistent widow came to my mind. Despite being denied justice several times, she didn’t give up and eventually got what she wanted.
In my journey of faith, I have fallen many times and grown weary. But with God's grace, I have stood up and continued forward. Persevering in faith despite difficulties is always worthwhile. No matter how often you fall, take courage, stand up, and take another step.
