“I have called you by your name, I have given you an honorable name, though you did not know Me” (Isaiah, ch. 45, v. 4*).
I went out early in the morning for a walk. The wet sidewalk indicated that it had rained recently. The sky was still dark when I began my usual three-kilometer walk, but it gradually brightened. As I was heading home and turned the corner towards my house, I was surprised by a beautiful sight. A rainbow peeked out from behind the houses and trees. The sky at sunrise was colored blue and pink, with the colorful rainbow standing in the middle.
While I stood admiring the rainbow, a runner passed right by me without glancing at the beautiful view before us. It made me think of the countless times I must have missed something wonderful, created by God.
The Lord is always present and ready to show us good things, but we do not always pay attention. It is easy to get caught up in daily life and forget that God is here, that He loves us, and cares for us. I hope to be more receptive to God’s constant presence and to reflect the light of Christ in the lives of others.
