Tell it like it is

Tell it like it is

"When the Lord brought us back from captivity to Jerusalem, it was as if we were dreaming. Then our mouth was filled with joy and our tongue with exultation. Then it was said among the nations: 'The Lord has done a great thing for them!' The Lord has done a great thing for us: we are joyful" (Ps. 16, verses 1 – 3*).

People love inspiring stories. Biographies of individuals who have hit rock bottom but have made the most of a second chance top the bestseller lists. However, few have experienced something so dramatic in their lives—most of us are quite ordinary. Sadly, this makes some believers consider their testimony less exciting and therefore less valuable. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Personal testimony is a way to tell what the Lord has done and is doing in our lives. Regardless of how prosaic our words may seem compared to someone else’s, God will ensure they impact the person who needs them.

For example, imagine the following: a six-year-old girl accepts Christ as her Savior. By the time she is eighteen, she will be able to tell her friends about God's greatness. She will explain how He made the gospel understandable to a child and continues revealing something new to her every day. When she reaches eighty, she will be able to share a lifetime of following the Lord Jesus. Her testimony may not be "exciting," but it doesn’t need to be. It will be spiritual gold.

No matter what your story is, the Lord can and will use it. You have no idea how far your testimony might reach. God says that His word will not return to Him empty (Isaiah, ch. 55, verse 11). And the story of Christ's saving grace is always inspiring.
