"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phil., ch. 4, v. 13*).
Driving home is extremely terrifying for me. I worry that I won't be able to judge the distance when navigating through roundabouts, narrow roads, or congested areas. Despite this, I drive to take turns with my husband and to be able to react in case of an emergency. Every time I'm behind the wheel, I pray: "Lord, I can't do this. Please drive for me!" After this prayer, I don't suddenly become a flawless driver, nor do I become completely calm, but I feel God's presence and know that He empowers me to do what I cannot with my own strength. I still make mistakes on the road, but I learn from them and hope to become a better driver.
I believe this is one way God helps my faith grow. Lord Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a tiny mustard seed that is sown and grows into such a large tree that birds make nests in its branches (see Matt., ch. 13, v. 31–35). Perhaps challenging situations help us grow by strengthening our faith and helping us to trust in God. As I grow in my faith, I see more answers to my prayers and thus the kingdom of God expands.
